We thought about canvassing the neighborhoods, talking to people about the issues, and kissing a few babies, but since we have two more shows in October, we'll stick with the blog, facebook, twitter thing.

The Houston Center for Photography has put out a call for entries for 2011 Fellowships. After searching their website for a link, lo and behold, they have many others calls for entry! Check out their listing. They do accept entries from artists all over the world. So, photographers - give it a shot! And if you do, good luck!

RE-UNION!

Re-Union, will be on display for one night only! Friday, October 8th, 2010 from 6:00p-11:00p.

Featuring the art of Aaron H. Baker, Zachary Hart Baker, Jessica Bright, Charlie Giglia, Lauren Hemphill, Ryan Jaenke, Danielle N. Kramer, Matthew Palmer, Dante Rodriguez, Jeff Sierputowski, The Sign Guy, Stephanie Lipscomb, Joe Ayala, Linda Ayala, and Stephanie Ayala.

Artists were selected by Zachary Hart Baker and Wall Eye Gallery, in a collaboration of diverse media. All work represents and compliments one another showing a history of friendship that is crafted by creating stimulating works of art inspired by friends, family, and Cleveland a like. From paintings to photographs and installations, each medium used displays the talent of 15 artists, Clevelanders and former Clevelanders, reuniting with a mutual respect for each other and their work.

Right now, artists Dante Rodriguez and Andy Curlowe are at the gallery putting together their show Dark Matters, Light Sources. Not only is putting together a show hard work, but imagine if you're also one of the artists in the show? More hard work!

About the show:
DARK MATTERS, LIGHT SOURCES is each artist’s personal reflections and responses to man’s relationship with nature. The landscape is a living entity that is in constant flux by its doing or our own. Curlowe addresses this dissonance by stating “with all that we subject our world to, our landscape is also evolving and changing….is nature making a counter path to our development?” In his dioramas and drawings he illustrates the struggle of man’s design onto nature. The hidden mysteries experienced in nature are explored in Rodriguez’s work. His use of animal, human and geometric hybrid forms in his paintings portray a peculiar bond filled with ambiguity and open ended narratives. There is a psychological resonance shared in the works by both artists that cast a shadow of uncertainty on the relationship between man and nature. Was this disharmony always present? Is it a modern day creation? Nevertheless, their imagery presents that it is not the natural order of things.

Berea Arts Fest!!

The twentieth annual festival will be held Sunday, September 12, 2010 on the banks of beautiful Coe Lake, situated in the heart of Berea. Attendance is completely FREE and the festival takes place RAIN or SHINE!

We'll be at booth #10 at the Berea Arts Fest! There is soooo much going on at this festival: Tons of artists's booths, art demonstrations, hands on activities, performances, and food!
At our booth we'll feature art from the partners of Wall Eye along with a sampling from the boutique artists. Stop by!
